Know Your Why

This week was Temira - my daughter’s army graduation. On the same day Temira’s life long best friend and our neighbor in New York also had her army graduation ceremony. Watching these two young ladies grow up we never imagined they would both move to

Israel and serve in the army.

Of course we are all proud parents. The most amazing thing is to see these young ladies living their lives with such clarity and purpose. They know their WHY. So many of us exist in life explaining what we do and how we do it but we are disconnected from our WHY.

Each of us is here to make a unique contribution to better the world. In addition to our unique personal mission, we also have a universal mission of being “a light unto the nations” as being part of the Jewish people. Understanding our universal and unique personal mission engenders a sense of purpose and drive; it is one of the keys to living a meaningful, energized life.

These young ladies know that they can make a unique contribution to Israel and the Jewish people. They own this by taking on a huge responsibility, hard work and often encounter danger.

The key to finding meaning in one’s life is knowing your purpose. Ask yourself what’s my why? May we all live a life of clarity, focus and purpose.

Shabbat shalom
