Sunrise, Sunset

Is this the little girl I carried?

Is this the little boy at play?

I don't remember growing older

When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty?

When did he grow to be so tall?

Wasn't it yesterday when they were small?

The words of the famous song from The Fiddler on the Roof - “Sunrise, Sunset”, are playing in my head. Last night we had an awesome party celebrating Meron and Efrat’s engagement.

What words of wisdom can I give them? How can I help to ease their way? Now they must learn from one another Day by day They look so natural together… In this weeks Torah portion Naso we read about the blessing Aharon the Kohen said when he blessed the Jewish people over 3,000 years ago. This has been used by Jewish parents to bless their children ever since. "May the Eternal bless you and protect you" (Numbers 6:24). When we ask God to bless our children, we are praying that they be granted wisdom, wealth, health, character - in essence, everything that we value. To Meron and Efrat: the sages say to above all, always have a good heart, as a person with good heart will be blessed. Shabbat shalom
